You Were Made For This!

Sometimes I daydream. I can be a “deep” thinker at times or more like I just let my mind wonder at times. I will even find myself Googling random things to find out information. For example, I wanted to know more about fig trees. The Bible references the fig tree several times (Matthew 21:19, Proverbs 27:18) mainly in regards to its ability to bear fruit and the level of faith we have to speak to something and see change happen. I was curious, what are fig trees really like?

Here is some information I found about fig trees:

· Can tolerate seasons of drought

· Can grow in nutritionally poor soil

· It grows well in the valley with little to no water

· Because of its deep roots, it can search deep underground for water

· Provides a cool pleasant habitat for animals to take shelter

I am not sure about you but I am amazed! The fig tree can literally survive and withstand the harshest of conditions yet still has the ability to grow AND provide shelter to those around it. I think this is a powerful message for us. The conditions around us do not have to determine our ability to grow and thrive. Just like the fig tree reaches deep underground to find water, we must do the same in regards to being connect to God, His word, and His Spirit. Romans 8:28 says "We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him. They are the people he called, because that was his plan". No matter what is thrown at you this week, remember, you were made for this!
