Gratitude Challenge: Week 2

The idea of finding something to be grateful for everyday seems easy. At bare minimum, you are thankful for life, health, and strength. Try finding 3 things to be grateful for, every day that are completely different! This week, what I learned from the challenge is that you are forcing yourself to not put emphasis on what’s wrong in your life. Even the smallest of things are worth being grateful for. For example, one of my 3 reasons was that I was grateful for a song the Lord put on my heart as soon as I woke up. Gratitude pulls your focus off of what is in front of you and makes you look at God and all that He has done.

The second week of the challenge also introduced me to a new challenge within itself. It was the weekend and I had a million and one things to do. I realized on a Saturday that it was 10:30am and I still had yet to text Dominque my 3 reasons. Because I had been doing it first thing in the morning, I almost felt like I had done God an injustice because I was “late”. Once you get in the habit of being thankful, not doing it will “wrong”.

Psalms 92:1 says “It is good to give thanks to the Lord”. Showing our appreciation to God is as simple as saying thanks for the very small things as well as those big things. We have to do better at not focusing on our problems and those things that distract us from the blessings He has given us.
